Tools & technique

angle grinder, masking tape, tape measure, wax crayon or china marker, masonry blade (carburumbum) sanding block or belt sander, hole saw, drill, drill bits, hacksaw blade, files, square, suction cup (glass carrier) tressles, jigsaw. grit edged jigsaw blade.

Storage: wall panels should be stored flat before use as warping can occur if not stored correctly. This is because the same molecular structure that makes our products more resistant to breakage than other similar products also makes them able to bend over a period of time if not supported properly.

Vanity tops & sinks: The same rules apply for these products but mainly to the longer lengths.Always try to have the cabinet or support structure ready to recieve the top then there is no danger of incorrect storage.

All our products can be worked with conventional tools. To cut to size mark with crayon or china marker (good side up). stick masking tape along this line. (you will see the tape better as dust will hide a line). If cutting a notch drill the corner with a conventional steel twist bit & cut with the angle grinder up to the hole. You will then need to finish the cut by hand with a hacksaw blade, then clean with a file. Holes can be drilled with a hole saw or if larger holes are required a series of holes can be drilled then cut & filed. You can alternatively use a jigsaw with a grit edged blade for cutting marble but mask off the surface of the product with selotape where the jigsaw will rub the surface.

Wall panel installation: Wall panels should be fixed to a secure surface using 100% silicone adhesive. We can supply this or reccomend a suitable type. This needs to be applied in golf ball sized globes approximately every 400mm.(make sure panel is clean)

Dry fit any panels before applying any silicone (a suction cup or glass carrier comes in handy for this job). Any notches are best made by drilling a hole & cutting to this hole leaving a radius at the corner to prevent stress cracks.

Fit back panel first then side panels, leave 3-4mm clearance on each side of the back panel to allow for expansion, also leave a small gap between back panel & side panels to allow for filling with 100% silicone sealant. These corners will be covered with corner trim with silicone adhesive as an extra waterproof barrier.

Where the wall panel meets the shower base you should leave a 5mm gap by sitting the panel on shims which can be removed later & the gap filled with silicone.

If a shower frame is to be fastened to the panel a clearance hole should be made in the panel for the fastener to pass through & then fastened to the stud or wall behind.

Panels should be braced over night.

Vanity top installation:

Dry fit vanity top first, in most cases the backsplash will hide any irregularities in the wall surface, if not sand until it is a good fit using a sanding block or belt sander.

Apply silicone along cabinet top at intervals of approximately 100mm & gently lower the vanity top into position.
